About MythicRealms

MythicRealms founders in a research expedition

Our Story

MythicRealms began as a passion project in 2008 when Dr. Eleanor Brightwisdom and Professor Jonathan Scrollkeeper, two academics with a shared love for fantasy worlds, began documenting the intricate lore of various fictional universes. What started as a small blog among university colleagues at the University of Sydney quickly grew into an extensive archive that attracted attention from fantasy enthusiasts worldwide.

In 2012, we officially established MythicRealms as a dedicated platform for preserving and showcasing the rich tapestry of fantasy worlds. Our initial focus on literary universes soon expanded to include game worlds, film settings, and original creations. The turning point came in 2015 when our comprehensive analysis of cross-cultural influences in fantasy pantheons was featured in several academic journals and mainstream publications.

By 2018, our team had grown to include artists, game designers, and lore specialists who could capture the visual and narrative essence of these fantastical realms. We launched our membership program that year, allowing us to expand our documentation efforts and host our first fantasy worldbuilding symposium in Melbourne.

Today, MythicRealms stands as Australia's premier resource for fantasy worldbuilding, with a vast digital archive of worlds, artifacts, deities, and locations. Our Sydney headquarters houses our growing collection of physical replicas, manuscripts, and artwork that bring these imaginary realms into tangible reality.
